Goetsch leads Granite City to shutout victory over Twin City

Sam Goetsch recorded a shutout against the Twin City Steel as the Granite City Lumberjacks picked up a 4-0 win.

 

Granite City was led by Luke Richardson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Richardson scored on the power play 8:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. A delay of game penalty on Jon Plaszcz had put the Lumberjacks on the power play. Jared Sprink assisted on the tally.

Granite City racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 58 minutes in penalty time. The Lumberjacks had been averaging 31.0 minutes in penalties per game. Granite City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Granite City additionally got points from Sprink, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Granite City also had goals scored by Blake Phenow and Travis Kothenbeutel, who scored one goal each.
