Granite City erases deficit to stun Twin City, 5-4

The Twin City Steel could not hold down the Granite City Lumberjacks, and Lumberjacks erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 win.

Granite City never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Lumberjacks were down 3-0 after the first period. Granite City knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Matt Raiola at 6:44 in the third period. The Lumberjacks got the game winner at 13:33 in the third period on a goal by Drew Otto.

The Lumberjacks racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and three majors for 65 minutes in penalty time. The Lumberjacks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Twin City to score on any of its six power plays.

Granite City was led by Otto and Raiola, who each registered one goal and one assist.  Eric Miller, Tim Brown and Brett Love also scored for Granite City. More assists for Granite City came via Blayne Ellson, Aaron Azevedo, Aidan Verbeke and Nick Turbitt, who each chipped in one.

Austin Wilson rejected 28 shots on goal for Granite City.
