Granite City pulls away in second, rolls over Twin City, 6-2

Twin City was within striking distance after one period, but Granite City put the pedal down in the second en route to a 6-2 victory.

Matt Flom was all over the ice for Granite City, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Flom scored the first of his two goals at 17:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. Zack Cole assisted on the tally. Flom\’s next tally made the score 6-1 Granite City with 9:47 left in the third period. Chase Di Bari picked up the assist.

Granite City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Twin City to score on any of its four power plays.

Granite City additionally got points from Eric Moser, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Andrej Jamnicky, who also had one goal and one assist, and Di Bari, who also registered one goal and one assist. Granite City also got a goal from Will Mix as well. In addition, Granite City received assists from Casey Esselman, Braden Altena, and Tommy Giller, who each chipped in one.

Twin City\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Granite City power plays. Twin City\’s offense operated below its season average. Twin City averages 4.2 goals per game.

Mac Berglove made 20 saves for Granite City on 22 shots. Granite City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Twin City\’s Gunnar Howg stopped 23 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Twin City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
