Granite City stifles Twin City’s comeback, gains 5-3 victory

Granite City, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Twin City and clinched a 5-3 victory.

Granite City led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Granite City\’s Tanner Skaja scored short handed at 10:11 in the third period to put Granite City up 4-1.

Matt Flom had two goals to lead Granite City to victory. Flom scored at 18:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Granite City and again while 19:06 into the third to make the score 5-3 Granite City.

Granite City additionally got points from Skaja, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Granite City also had goals scored by Chase Di Bari and Spencer Zwiener, who each put in one. More assists for Granite City came via Casey Esselman, Adam Marty, Kevin Finley, and Tommy Hall, who each chipped in one.

Twin City\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Granite City power plays.

Twin City was helped by Yannick Zehnder, who registered one goal. Zehnder scored 6:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Granite City. Jared Erickson provided the assist. Twin City also got points from Joe Costello, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Twin City also got a goal from Tyler Nystrom as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Alex Egle, who had one.

Mac Berglove rejected 22 shots on goal for Granite City. Granite City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Twin City\’s Nathan Siclovan stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Twin City totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Twin City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Paul Stehr was ejected from the game.
