On Wednesday, the Granite City Lumberjacks out shot and out play the Twin City Steel but could not figure
out how to get a shot past the Steel goaltender. The lumberjacks outshoot the Steel 43-16 but end up
losing 3-0.
Grant Holler made 13 saves.
Friday the Jacks fall behind 1-0 in the first period after blasting 15 shots on the Aces. They finally get on the board
after being shut out for 4 straight periods when Peter Lindblad scores off some nifty stickhandling. Assisting
on the goal were Nick Zierden and Aaron Azevedo. 25 seconds later Cody Chiverton buries a blast off a pass
from Azevedo. Linblad pumped three more goals in the third giving the Lumberjacks a 5-2 win. TJ Christenson (2)
Blayne Ellson, DJ Vold and Matt Raiola added assists in the third.
Matt Grove made 14 saves for the win.
Saturday the Lumberjacks had their hands full with a very quick North Iowa team. The Bulls lit the lamp first
with a powerplay goal 14 minutes into the game. The Bulls took a 2-0 lead 5 minutes into the second before
Peter Lindblad would score a PP goal to close the lead to one goal. Assisting Lindblad were DJ Vold and Matt Raiola.
The NI Bulls finish off the Jacks with an empty net goal in the last minute as Grove was pulled for the extra attacker.
Matt Grove made 26 saves in the loss.
