Jacks go 3-1 at Showcase

Metro Jets 1 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 8: The Granite City Lumberjacks were impressive on the power play as the converted each time they had a chance going 5 for 5 during their 8-1 victory over the Metro Jets. The Metro Jets jumped out to the early one goal lead as Cooper McLean found the back of the net four minutes into the 1st period. After the McLean goal it was all Granite City as they scored eight unanswered goals during the game. Zac Sikich who buried one goal and added three assists for a 4-point night led the Granite City attack. Granite City goaltender Austin Wilson made 22 saves to pick up his 9th win of the season.

St. Louis Jr. Blues 4 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 6: In a back and forth game the Granite City Lumberjacks found a way to beat the St. Louis Jr. Blues 6-4. Granite City forward Zac Sikich had two goals and Drew Otto added a goal and an assist in the win. The Lumberjacks chased Jr. Blues starting goalie Clint Steinmeyer out of the net and backup Cooper Cothran came in and stopped all 11 shots he faced in relief. Granite City goaltender Scott Murray stopped 16 shots earning the win.

Granite City Lumberjacks 3 @ Wisconsin Whalers 4: Two Jason Hoehn 3rd period power play goals were the difference for the Wisconsin Whalers as they defeated the Granite City Lumberjacks. The final frame started with the teams tied at 2 and it was on to Hoehn converting on two chances that gave Wisconsin their third win of the weekend. Drew Otto got his 2nd goal of the night on the empty net but the Granite City comeback attempt came up just short.

Granite City Lumberjacks 11 @ Topeka Capitals 3: David Horsmann scored a hat trick and added an assist during the Granite City Lumberjacks 11-3 victory over the Topeka Capitals. After going down by two, the Capitals started the 2nd period with a goal from Yu Hikosaka to cut the lead down to one but seven unanswered Granite City goals blew the game wide open and the Lumberjacks never looked back. In addition to Horsmann getting four points, teammate Drew Otto added to his season total with a goal and three assists during the game.
