Late goal as the Lumberjacks fall to the Jr. Blues 4-2

Mark Capkovic scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Granite City Lumberjacks narrowly lost to the St. Louis Jr. Blues 4-2 in a home game at Affton Ice Rink in Granite City.

Joe Papa contributed with 2 goals and Jack Hatton had a busy night with 2 assists.

During the first, Papa opened the scoring for St. Louis with a goal at 13:36 with helpers from his linemates, Hatton and Jones.

In the second period, Sikich answered for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 6:45 with assists from Olson and Altena.

In the third, Ohmes netted a goal at 5:05 with helpers from his linemates, Neu and Towers. Papa answered for St. Louis with a goal at 8:08 with an assist from defenseman Mcatee. Capkovic scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:54 with helpers from teammates Dunaway and Caito. Galaguzov quickly followed with a goal at 19:21 with assists from Jones and Hatton.

This loss brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (8-3-0-0).
