Marty’s goals lift Granite City to 5-2 victory over La Crosse

Granite City relied on the scoring touch of Adam Marty, who netted two goals, to beat La Crosse, 5-2.

Marty\’s tallies came at 1:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City and 17:56 into the third to make the score 4-2 Granite City.

Granite City\’s penalty kill excelled, as Granite City gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Granite City could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 50 minutes in penalties during the game.

Granite City additionally got points from Braden Altena, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Granite City included Tommy Hall and Lucas Carroll, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Casey Esselman, Spencer Nelson, Chase Di Bari, Mathew Sprink, and Tommy Giller, who each chipped in one.

La Crosse excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Mac Berglove recorded 22 saves for Granite City. La Crosse\’s Andrew Wagner stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. La Crosse incurred 88 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. La Crosse ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Noah Hallbeck was ejected from the game.
