Moran's big night helped the Lumberjacks crush the WarHawks 8-1

Matt Moran had a big night with 4 points (4 goals, 0 assists) as the Granite City Lumberjacks crushed the Willmar WarHawks 8-1 in a home game at Armadillo Deck Sports Arena in Granite City. Besides, the Granite City Lumberjacks' offense had a big night, peppering Willmar with 38 shots throughout the game. The Granite City Lumberjacks took the lead early in the first on a goal from Ryan Pearson and never looked back.

Braden Altena chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Owen Sikich delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

During the first, Moran opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 1:28. Pearson quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 1:43 with helpers from his linemates, Ohmes and Sommers. Altena netted a goal at 10:39 with an assist from his teammate Sikich. Towers put in a goal at 17:15 with helpers from his linemates, Altena and Sikich.

In the second, Moran deposited a goal at 7:05 with assists from his linemates, Bissett and Neu. Moran scored a goal at 14:23 with helpers from Buhl and Troumbly.

In the third, Voss finally put Willmar on the board with a goal at 8:29 with an assist from fellow WarHawks forward Dahle. Sikich answered for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 14:44 with helpers from Dibari and Nagle. Moran quickly followed with a goal at 15:25 with an assist from defenseman Baker.

Granite City’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Gerads as he stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced. Gerads’ counterpart, Fry, also had a big night, managing to stop 9 of 13, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (14-7-0-0).
