On Friday, the Granite City Lumberjacks scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the Twin City Steel and clinch an 8-1 win.

Aidan Verbeke was all over the ice for Granite City, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Verbeke scored the first of his two goals at 1:14 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Granite City. Eric Miller provided the assist.  Verbeke's next tally was shorthanded and made the score 5-1 Granite City with 4:05 left in the second period.  Drew Otto picked up that assist.

Granite City goalie Austin Wilson finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal.

Granite City also got points from Mitchell Gwost, who also had one goal and one assist and Otto, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Granite City also got a goal from Tim Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Matt Peterson, Aaron Azevedo, and Alex Koopmeiners, who each chipped in one.

 

On Saturday, the Granite City Lumberjacks and the Minnesota Flying Aces were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Granite City made the most of its opportunities and won moving them to 10-0.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Aidan Verbeke secured the win for the Lumberjacks with a goal at the 19:27 mark of the third period to make the score 5-4 Granite City.  Zac Sikich picked up the assist.

Minnesota was unable to stop the Lumberjacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Granite City eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.   The Lumberjacks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Granite City additionally got points from Aaron Storch, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Matt Peterson and Blayne Ellson also scored for Granite City. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Dakoda Menslage, Alex Koopmeiners, Mitchell Gwost, Drew Otto, and Nick Turbitt, who each chipped in one.

Austin Wilson recorded 18 saves for Granite City.
