The Lumberjacks crushed the WarHawks 9-3

The Granite City Lumberjacks' offense had a big night, peppering the Willmar WarHawks with 47 shots throughout the game. The Granite City Lumberjacks took the lead late in the second on a goal from Owen Sikich.

Brady Dahl contributed with 2 goals and Matt Moran delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist).

During the first period, Moran opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 0:00 with a helper from defenseman Baker. Sommers put in a goal at 12:37 with assists from his linemates, Moran and Schwehr.

In the second, Bolstad finally put Willmar on the board with a goal at 1:16 with a helper from fellow WarHawks forward Dixon. Holt deposited a goal at 4:21 with an assist from defenseman Toll. Altena answered for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 6:32 with helpers from teammates Olson and Sikich. Sikich scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 17:52 with assists from Dibari and Buhl.

During the third period, Dahl put in a goal at 1:47 with helpers from his linemates, Neu and Bissett. Sikich netted a goal at 6:49 with an assist from Altena. Schwehr deposited a goal at 9:20 with a helper from Sommers. Shea answered for the WarHawks with a goal at 11:57 with an assist from his linemate Bauman. Dahl quickly followed with a goal at 12:31 with helpers from Bissett and Baker. Moran put in a goal at 17:57 with assists from his linemates, Sommers and Schwehr.

The Lumberjacks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Mulligan’s big night as he stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced. Mulligan’s counterpart, Fry, also had a big night, managing to stop 38 of 46, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (2-0-0-0).
