The Lumberjacks defeat the North Stars 5-4

Mac Berglove came up big, stopping 30 of 34 shots throughout the game. The Granite City Lumberjacks took the lead early in the third on a goal from Ryan Smith. Spencer Nelson had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Braden Altena contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Steven Kukla chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Nick Blanchette delivered for his team with 3 assists.
In the first, Nelson opened the scoring for Granite City with a goal at 2:08 with helpers from his teammates Mix and Moser. Lund netted a goal at 9:14 with helpers from Sprink and Sprink.
In the second, Jamnicky deposited a goal at 1:30 with assists from Altena and Nelson. Lenzmeier finally put Breezy Point on the board with a goal at 5:15 with helpers from Hill and Blanchette. Higgins scored a goal at 11:58 with assists from Kukla and Nagurski. Altena answered for Granite City with a goal at 16:04 with helpers from Esselman and Lund.
During the third period, Smith netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 3:01 with an assist from Di Bari. Kukla answered for the North Stars with a goal at 7:34 with helpers from Blanchette and Flicek. Maucieri deposited a goal at 13:50 with assists from Blanchette and Laven.

The Lumberjacks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Berglove’s big night as he stopped 30 of the 34 shots he faced. Berglove’s counterpart, Moore, also had a big night, managing to stop 29 of 34, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (62-16-8-4)
