The Lumberjacks defeat the Steel 2-1

The Granite City Lumberjacks' offense had a big night, peppering the New Ulm Steel with 36 shots throughout the game. The Granite City Lumberjacks took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Logan Neu.

During the first, Van Halbeck opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 6:20 with assists from teammates Sikich and Olson. Coppock quickly followed with a goal at 7:09 with helpers from Penz and Woytcke.

In the second, Neu answered for Granite City with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 14:14 with assists from Schwehr and Salz.

The Lumberjacks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Gerads’ big night as he stopped 35 of the 36 shots he faced. Gerads’ counterpart, Kenny, also had a big night, managing to stop 34 of 36, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (9-4-0-0).
