The Lumberjacks fall to the Steel 6-4

David Mulligan came up big, stopping 32 of 38 shots throughout the game. The New Ulm Steel took the lead early in the third on a goal from Kirk Coppock.

Brandon Baker delivered for his team with 2 goals and Braden Altena chipped in with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Alex Nagel contributed with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Jarrett Cammarata had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first period, Storlie opened the scoring for New Ulm with a goal at 5:42 with a helper from his teammate Kreuser. Wieben netted a goal at 17:03 with a helper from defenseman Woytcke. Nagel put in a goal at 19:23 with assists from Storlie and Kjome.

During the second, Cammarata deposited a goal at 3:24 with helpers from Nagel and Woytcke. Baker finally put Granite City on the board with a goal at 10:48 with assists from Neu and Altena.

In the third period, Dibari scored a goal at 1:46 with helpers from Schoenberg and Altena. Coppock quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 2:37. Altena answered for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 9:35 with assists from Beyer and Dibari. Nagel answered for the Steel with a goal at 13:46 with helpers from his linemates, Kreuser and Cammarata. Baker answered for Granite City with a goal at 16:55 with assists from Schoenberg and Dahl.

This loss brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (24-13-0-0).
