Troumbly's big night helped the Lumberjacks crush the Whalers 8-3

Grant Troumbly had a big night with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) as the Granite City Lumberjacks crushed the Wisconsin Whalers 8-3 in a home game at Oregon Ice Arena in Granite City. As well, David Mulligan came up big, stopping 26 of 29 shots throughout the game. The Granite City Lumberjacks took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Matt Moran.

Braden Altena delivered for his team with 2 goals and Zack Deboom had a busy night with 2 goals. Zane Marshman chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first period, Troumbly opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 4:12 with helpers from his teammates Buhl and Towers. Altena deposited a goal at 8:29 with an assist from Sikich. Deboom netted a goal at 19:34 with helpers from Troumbly and Baker.

During the second period, Tobey finally put Wisconsin on the board with a goal at 15:41 with assists from Marshman and Vandervalk.

In the third, Grobstick scored a goal at 2:17 with helpers from Hefty and Hanson. Moran answered for the Lumberjacks with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:52 with assists from his linemates, Schwehr and Sommers. Altena quickly followed with a goal at 6:16 with helpers from Neu and Buhl. Marshman quickly followed with a goal at 7:17. Deboom quickly followed with a goal at 7:37 with assists from his linemates, Troumbly and Towers. Towers quickly followed with a goal at 8:52 with a helper from Troumbly. Neu put in a goal at 11:07 with assists from Sikich and Baker.

Granite City’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Mulligan’s big night as he stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced. Mulligan’s counterpart, Hufford, also had a big night, managing to stop 6 of 9, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (27-14-0-0).
