Twin City falls to xGranite City in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Taylor Brown gave the xGranite City Lumberjacks a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Twin City Steel when he scored 1:36 into the extra period.

xGranite City came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Lumberjacks fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Twin City\’s Jace Childs at 11:43 in the second period. xGranite City knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Christian Mohs at 16:49 in the third period.

The Lumberjacks were paced by Brown, who tallied one goal.

xGranite City\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Twin City power plays. The Lumberjacks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. xGranite City averages 5.2 goals per game. The Steel were unable to stop the Lumberjacks from sending pucks towards the net, and xGranite City eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Roy Grandov also scored for xGranite City. More assists for xGranite City came via Zach Voss, Drew Otto, Sam Zweiner, and Zac Sikich, who contributed one a piece.

Twin City stifled the Lumberjacks\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Steel forced xGranite City goalie Scott Murray to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Twin City was helped by Calvin Miska, who had one goal. Miska scored 3:14 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Evan Anderson assisted on the tally. In addition, Twin City received assists from Joonas Huovinen, Tanner Duffney, and Sam Basich, who each chipped in one.

Scott Murray made 29 saves for the Lumberjacks on 31 shots. xGranite City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jackson Germaine rejected 42 shots on goal for the Steel. Twin City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
