Granite City blows out Minnesota, 11-2

Granite City had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 11-2 win over Minnesota.

Spencer Zwiener was all over the ice for Granite City, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Zwiener scored 1:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. Andrej Jamnicky provided the assist.

Granite City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Minnesota was unable to stop Granite City from sending pucks towards the net, and Granite City eventually piled up 55 shots on goal. Granite City found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Granite City has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Granite City additionally got points from Braden Altena, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Tanner Skaja, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Jamnicky, who also had one goal and two assists, Mathew Sprink, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Tommy Hall, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Matt Flom, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Granite City included Lucas Carroll and Alex Durand, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Casey Esselman, Spencer Nelson, Justin Carlson, John Suess, and William Sprink, who each chipped in one.

Nathan Isaacson recorded 24 saves for Granite City. Granite City incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Dakota McDonald made 44 saves for Minnesota on 55 shots. Minnesota incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
