Granite City downs Minnesota, 7-3

The Minnesota Flying Aces lost to the Granite City Lumberjacks, 7-3.

Granite City forced Minnesota goalie Kevin OShea to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Lumberjacks bested their season scoring average. Granite City averages 4.7 goals per game.

The Flying Aces stifled the Lumberjacks\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Minnesota was helped by Jake Mullendore, who finished with one goal and two assists. Mullendore scored on the power play 5:40 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Granite City. The Flying Aces had taken the advantage when Granite City\’s David Horsmann got sent off for boarding. Bradee Thompson assisted on the tally. Minnesota additionally got points from Thompson, who also registered one goal and two assists. Minnesota also got a goal from Lucas Mutschelknaus as well. More assists for Minnesota came via Jesse Brown and Blake Neumann, who each chipped in one.

Kendall Meyer made 22 saves for the Lumberjacks on 25 shots. Granite City incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Minnesota\’s OShea stopped 34 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Flying Aces incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
