Granite City downs Twin City, 2-1

David Kenney registered one point to lead the Granite City Lumberjacks to a 2-1 victory over the Twin City Steel.

 

Granite City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Twin City power plays. The Lumberjacks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Granite City puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game.

Granite City also got a goal from Will Mix as well. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Jared Sprink, David Horsmann, and Travis Kothenbeutel, who contributed one each.

Twin City's offense operated below its season average. The Steel average 3.5 goals per game. Twin City's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Steel finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Twin City was led by Russel Barone, who scored the team's only goal. Barone scored 5:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Kyle Wagner picked up the assist.

The Lumberjacks' Sam Goetsch stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Granite City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Parker Butler rejected 26 shots on goal for the Steel.
