Granite City erases deficit to stun Minnesota, 3-2

Granite City climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat Minnesota, 3-2.

Granite City never led in the game until netting the game winner. Granite City trailed 2-0 after a goal by Minnesota\’s Kyle Wendorf at 3:39 in the second period. Granite City knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Andrej Jamnicky at 5:27 in the second period. Granite City netted the game winner on the power play at 3:42 in the third period on a goal by Jamnicky.

Tanner Skaja had a great game for Granite City, netting two goals.

In addition, Granite City received assists from Eric Moser, Casey Esselman, Spencer Nelson, Chase Di Bari, and Matt Flom, who contributed one each.

Minnesota was helped by Tre Opack, who had one goal. Opack scored 1:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnesota. Lucas Mickelson assisted on the tally. More assists for Minnesota came via Tyler Leverty and Kevin Donahue, who each chipped in one.

Nathan Isaacson recorded 26 saves for Granite City. Granite City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Dakota McDonald rejected 24 shots on goal for Minnesota. Minnesota incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
