Huge game by Otto boosts xGranite City over xAlexandria, 6-3

Drew Otto was all over the ice for the xGranite City Lumberjacks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in xGranite City\’s 6-3 win over the xAlexandria Blizzard.

Otto found the back of the net 11:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 xGranite City and again while on the power play 18:53 into the first to make the score 3-0 xGranite City.

The Lumberjacks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 34 penalty minutes.

xGranite City also got points from Luc Richardson, who also had one goal and two assists. xGranite City also had goals scored by Gavin Porter, Taylor Brown, and David Kenney, who each put in one. In addition, xGranite City received assists from Mitchell Gwost, Tobias Gabrielsen, David Horsmann, and Morgan Martelle, who each chipped in one.

xAlexandria forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 67 minutes in penalty time. The Blizzard surpassed its season average of 31.0 penalty minutes per game. Team could not crack xGranite City\’s penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

xAlexandria was led by Mick Dhein, who registered one goal and one assist. Dhein scored on the power play 13:12 into the second period to make the score 4-2 xGranite City. An interference penalty on Zac Sikich had put the Blizzard on the power play. Ian Ecklund provided the assist. xAlexandria additionally got points from Ecklund, who also had one goal and one assist. Tom Schmidt also scored for xAlexandria. More assists for xAlexandria came via Mitch Krafcheck, who had one.

Austin Wilson made 18 saves for the Lumberjacks on 21 shots. xGranite City registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. xAlexandria\’s Kyle Miller stopped 18 shots out of the 24 that he faced. For the Blizzard, Jordan Kraabel and Joe Anderson were ejected from the contest.
