Otto nets hat trick, leads Granite City to 4-1 win over Alexandria

The Alexandria Blizzard could not stop the Granite City Lumberjacks' Drew Otto, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 win.

Otto notched his first tally 18:02 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:39 into the third and at 19:37 into the third.

The win gave Granite City a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

The Lumberjacks were led by goalie Scott Murray, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal.

Granite City additionally got points from Eric Miller, who also finished with one goal and two assists. In addition, Granite City received assists from Aaron Azevedo, who had one and Aidan Verbeke and Mitchell Gwost, who contributed two a piece.

The Alexandria Blizzard tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Granite City Lumberjacks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Granite City took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Alexandria storm back to pull within one goal.

Drew Otto had two goals and two assists to lead the Lumberjacks. Otto scored the first of his two goals at 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. Otto's next tally made the score 3-2 Granite City with 4:55 left in the second period.  Matt Peterson picked up the assist.

Granite City also got a goal from Eric Miller as well. In addition, Granite City received assists from Aidan Verbeke, who had two.

Scott Murray made 27 saves for Granite City on 30 shots.
