Jacks Win in SO and OT

Friday – 3-2 Shoot Out Win – After a scoreless first period, Riley Bengtson got the Lumberjacks on the board just 2 minutes into the second period.  Assists on the goal went to Aaron Azevedo and Taylor Portner.  Chicago would even the score at 1-1 before the period would end.  Zac Sikich would again give the Lumberjacks a one goal lead with Brian Richert on the assist.  But again Chicago is able to tie it back up.  The game would go to a shoot out with the Lumberjacks closing out the Hitmen in 4 rounds.  Netting goals in the shoot out were Richert, Peter Lindblad and Blayne Ellson.

 

Saturday – 4-3 OT Win – In another back and forth game, the Chicago Hitmen and Granite City Lumberjacks traded goals each of the three periods.  In the first TJ Christenson was able to tie the game back at one with assists from Zac Sikich and Riley Bengtson.  In the second period, Trevor Ness was able to tie the game at 2-2 with assists to Peter Lindblad and TJ Christenson.  Riley Bengtson was able to finally give the Jacks the lead only to see Chicago tie it at 3-3.  Assisting on Bengtsons goal were Taylor Portner and Sikich.  Peter Lindblad was able to give the Lumberjacks the extra point with the win only 13 seconds into overtime when he dangled a couple Hitmen on the way to the net and slid the puck around the Hitmen goaltender.  Trevor Ness and Nick Zierden assisted on the game winning goal.
