Kenney’s goals lift xGranite City to 7-1 victory over Breezy Point

The xGranite City Lumberjacks relied on the scoring touch of David Kenney, who netted two goals, to beat the Breezy Point North Stars, 7-1.

Kenney\’s tallies came at 11:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xGranite City and 15:12 into the first to make the score 2-0 xGranite City.

xGranite City stifled Breezy Point\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lumberjacks\’ offense rang up 38 shots on the North Stars\’ net.

xGranite City also got points from Zach Voss, who also registered one goal and one assist and Aidan Verbeke, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. xGranite City also had goals scored by Blake Phenow, Luc Richardson, and Nick Haase, who scored one goal each. In addition, xGranite City received assists from Brady Berhardson, Billy Warren, Roy Grandov, and Morgan Martelle, who each chipped in one and Taylor Brown and Drew Otto, who contributed two a piece.

Breezy Point found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against xGranite City\’s defense. The North Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Scott Murray made 13 saves for the Lumberjacks on 14 shots. xGranite City incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Breezy Point\’s Joey Bergquist stopped 31 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The North Stars registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
