Late goal helps the Lumberjacks defeat the Jr. Blues 3-2

Logan Neu scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Granite City Lumberjacks defeat the the St. Louis Jr. Blues 3-2 in a home game at Armadillo Deck Sports Arena in Granite City. As well, Ridge Gerads came up big, stopping 40 of 42 shots throughout the game.

Brandon Baker delivered for his team with 2 assists.

In the first period, Buhl opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 7:41 with helpers from teammates Ohmes and Deboom. Baginski answered for the Jr. Blues with a goal at 11:55 with an assist from defenseman Jones. Olson answered for Granite City with a goal at 18:11 with helpers from Baker and Altena.

In the third, Capkovic answered for St. Louis with a goal at 9:01 with assists from Cox and Hatton. Neu answered for the Lumberjacks with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:55 with helpers from Sikich and Baker.

Granite City’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Gerads’ big night as he stopped 40 of the 42 shots he faced. On the other hand, Gerads’ counterpart, Bjella, and St. Louis’ defense did not have such a great night allowing 3 goals in 26 shots.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (24-11-0-0).
