Late goal helps the Lumberjacks defeat the Jr. Blues 4-3

Brady Dahl scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Granite City Lumberjacks defeat the the St. Louis Jr. Blues 4-3 in a home game at Canlan Ice Sports-Romeoville Rink 1 in Granite City. Moreover, the Granite City Lumberjacks' offense had a big night, peppering St. Louis with 28 shots throughout the game.

Owen Sikich contributed with 2 goals and Brady Dahl delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Brandon Bornkamp did his part, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

During the first period, Papa opened the scoring for the Jr. Blues with a goal at 2:24 with helpers from his teammates Bornkamp and Mcatee. Bornkamp quickly followed with a goal at 2:46 with a helper from his linemate Werdmuller.

In the second, Sikich finally put the Lumberjacks on the board with a goal at 18:01 with an assist from Dahl. Mitchell quickly followed with a goal at 18:47 with a helper from Bornkamp.

In the third, Esselman answered for Granite City with a goal at 3:23 with an assist from his defensive partner, Baker. Sikich netted a goal at 12:15 with helpers from his linemates, Smith and Altena. Dahl put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:57 with an assist from fellow Lumberjacks forward Altena.

Granite City’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Berglove’s big night as he stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced. On the other hand, Berglove’s counterpart, Schmidt, and St. Louis’ defense did not have such a great night allowing 4 goals in 28 shots.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (38-11-5-2)
