Lumberjacks Earn Weekend Sweep of Jr Blues

On Saturday, the Granite City Lumberjacks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues.

Scoring for the Lumberjacks were Aidan Verbeke, who had two, Eric Miller, who registered one goal and one assist and Mitch Humphries, who also had one goal and one assist.   Nathan Kohlenhoefer and Aaron Storch also chipped in one goal a piece.  Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Drew Otto, who had three and Matt Peterson, Aaron Azevedo, Tim Brown, and Brett Love, who each had one. 
 
Granite City’s goalie Scott Murray finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal.

On Sunday, the Granite City Lumberjacks were firing on all cylinders again and when the final buzzer sounded Lumberjacks emerged with a 6-2 win. 

Granite City was led by Eric Miller, who had two goals in the game.  Granite City additionally got goals from Aaron Storch, Nathan Kohlenhoefer, Michael Lawrence and Mitch Humphries, who also grabbed one assist.  Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Aidan Verbeke, Isaac Hoagland, Anthony Martinez, Ryan Carriveau, and Nick Turbitt, who each chipped in one. 

Granite City's Austin Wilson stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced.
