Meyer, Granite City blank Breezy Point, 5-0

Kendall Meyer recorded a shutout against the Breezy Point North Stars as the Granite City Lumberjacks picked up a 5-0 win.

 

Jared Sprink had two goals to lead Granite City to victory. Sprink found the back of the net on the power play 8:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City and again while 11:08 into the third to make the score 3-0 Granite City.

The Lumberjacks stifled Breezy Point's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Granite City's offense rang up 33 shots on the North Stars' net.

Granite City additionally got points from Blake Phenow, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Granite City included David Horsmann and Travis Kothenbeutel, who each put in one. In addition, Granite City received assists from Mitchell Gwost, who had two and Corey Taylor, Zach Voss, Luke Richardson, Tanner Skaja, and Dallas Marvin, who contributed one each.

Breezy Point was held below its usual level of production. The North Stars put an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game.

Meyer recorded 27 saves for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Breezy Point's Joe Licata stopped 28 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The North Stars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
