Jun 26, 2019

The Granite City Lumberjacks, proud members of the NA3HL announce that defensemen Tom Nagle has committed to play Division III hockey for Bethel University, member of the M.I.A.C. located in Arden Hills, MN.

Nagle, ’98 from Shoreview, MN, played for 2 seasons with the Lumberjacks and quadrupled his on-ice performance in 2018-19, compiling 9 goals and 27 assists and was a +48 in 46 games.

“Coming into junior hockey, my goal was to one day get the chance to play NCAA college hockey.  It was a grind every week to fight for that spot in the lineup come game time.”  Tom Nagle was unsure about returning for a second season with Granite City, but ultimately made the right decision.  “I was able to get my confidence up and had eventually become big part of the everyday lineup,” said Nagle recently.  His statistics from year one to year two stand behind his choice to return to the Lumberjacks for a second season.

Prior to joining the Lumberjacks, Nagle was a member of the Mounds View High School varsity team located in Arden Hills, MN.  The transition from Mounds View to the Lumberjacks then back home to Bethel should be a smooth one for Tom.

“We are very excited for the opportunity that Tom has earned.  He has worked very hard both on and off the ice for the past 2 years to achieve his goal of playing college hockey.  We wish him the best of luck at Bethel University” stated Lumberjacks Head Coach & General Manager Brad Willner.

Overall during his two-year career with Granite City, Nagle tallied 45 points in 78 career games and was a +81.  “My overall experience with the Lumberjacks was phenomenal, I look forward to having the opportunity to continue my academic and hockey career this fall at Bethel University” stated Nagle.
