The Lumberjacks crushed the WarHawks 8-2

The Granite City Lumberjacks' offense had a big night, peppering the Willmar WarHawks with 37 shots throughout the game. The Granite City Lumberjacks took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Brandon Bissett and never looked back.

Bailey Sommers chipped in with 2 goals and Jordan Olson contributed with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

In the first period, Sommers opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 2:36 with helpers from teammates Nagle and Moran. Dahl put in a goal at 9:26 with assists from his linemates, Altena and Sikich. Bissett quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 10:16 with helpers from Neu and Baker. Holt quickly followed with a goal at 12:15 with assists from his teammates Swope and Slagter. Sommers answered for Granite City with a goal at 16:32 with helpers from his linemates, Moran and Dibari. Oelkers quickly followed with a goal at 17:14 with assists from Shea and Toll.

In the second period, Sikich answered for the Lumberjacks with a goal at 6:26 with helpers from Olson and Baker. Olson put in a goal at 19:07 with assists from Moran and Altena.

During the third, Deboom netted a goal at 4:53 with helpers from Castro and Olson. Towers scored a goal at 8:25 with an assist from his linemate Castro.

Granite City’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Mulligan as he stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced. Mulligan’s counterpart, Ericson, also had a big night, managing to stop 29 of 37, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Granite City Lumberjacks’ record to (33-14-0-0).
