xAlexandria outlasts xGranite City, 4-2

The xAlexandria Blizzard gutted out a close 4-2 win against the xGranite City Lumberjacks.

xAlexandria gained the winning advantage on a goal by Drake Hunter 16:13 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Hunter was all over the ice for the Blizzard, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win.

xAlexandria\’s offense rang up 31 shots on xGranite City\’s net. The Blizzard could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

xAlexandria also got points from Mick Dhein, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Jody Randall, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Joe Anderson also scored for xAlexandria. In addition, xAlexandria received assists from Ian Ecklund, Garrett Skinner, Bo Gronseth, and Gavin Mindt, who each chipped in one.

The Lumberjacks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. xGranite City averages 5.2 goals per game.

The Lumberjacks were helped by David Kenney, who had one goal and one assist. Kenney scored on the power play 16:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xGranite City. xGranite City had taken the advantage when xAlexandria\’s Zach Kihle got sent off for cross checking. Sam Zweiner assisted on the tally. xGranite City additionally got points from Aidan Verbeke, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for xGranite City came via David Horsmann, who had one.

Kyle Miller rejected 26 shots on goal for the Blizzard. xAlexandria registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Lumberjacks\’ Austin Wilson stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. xGranite City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
