xGranite City blows out xPeoria, 6-1

The xPeoria Mustangs had trouble finding ways to stop the xGranite City Lumberjacks, which beat Mustangs, 6-1.

xGranite City got the win thanks to a great game by David Kenney, who had two goals and one assist. Kenney scored the first of his two goals at 4:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xGranite City. Drew Otto provided the assist. Kenney\’s next tally made the score 5-1 xGranite City with 5:12 left in the third period. The Lumberjacks had gotten the advantage when xPeoria\’s Austin Wisely was sent off for elbowing. Aidan Verbeke assisted on the tally.

The Mustangs were unable to stop xGranite City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumberjacks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

xGranite City additionally got points from Verbeke, who also had one goal and one assist and Tobias Gabrielsen, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for xGranite City included Luke Richardson and Brett Love, who scored one goal each. In addition, xGranite City received assists from Taylor Brown, who had two and Blake Phenow, Nick Schreiner, Billy Warren, Roy Grandov, and Travis Kothenbeutel, who contributed one a piece.

xPeoria\’s offense operated below it season average. The Mustangs average 4.7 goals per game.

xPeoria was led by Joshua Hart, who scored the team\’s only goal. Hart scored on the power play 18:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 xGranite City. The Mustangs had gained a power play chance when Mitchell Gwost was whistled for kneeing. Blake Ortman picked up the assist.

xGranite City\’s Scott Murray stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Lumberjacks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Marc Hayton rejected 31 shots on goal for xPeoria. The Mustangs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
