xGranite City falls to yNorth Iowa after surprising comeback

The xGranite City Lumberjacks could not hold down the yNorth Iowa Bulls, and Bulls erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win.

yNorth Iowa never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Bulls was down 2-0 after a goal by xGranite City\’s David Kenney at 14:42 in the second period. yNorth Iowa tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Brandon Anderson at 5:32 in the third period. The Bulls got the game winner at 14:26 in the third period on a goal by Anderson.

yNorth Iowa was sparked by Logan Murphy, who registered one goal.

The Bulls did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. yNorth Iowa puts an average of 7.1 pucks into the net per game.

yNorth Iowa also got a goal from Joe Kleven as well. More assists for yNorth Iowa came via Matt Kroska, who had two and Richie Marenis, Kyle Krueger, Cameron Brown, and Tim Santopoalo, who contributed one a piece.

The Lumberjacks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. xGranite City averages 5.3 goals per game.

The Lumberjacks were helped by Nick Haase, who tallied one goal. Haase scored on the power play 10:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xGranite City. xGranite City had gotten the advantage when the Bulls\’ Matt Fosdick was sent off for cross checking. Aidan Verbeke provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for xGranite City were Taylor Brown, Travis Kothenbeutel, and Sam Zweiner, who each chipped in one.

Chris Amsden rejected 25 shots on goal for yNorth Iowa. The Bulls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Scott Murray made 21 saves for the Lumberjacks on 24 shots. xGranite City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
